Writer. Fighter. Igniter.

Matron Saint of Cats

Born in California, but born for New York, Janice loves cats, Broadway (but not CATS on Broadway) and putting words on paper. As an active member of The Dramatist Guild, Maestra and Black Twitter (application pending) she's always up to something.

A prolific (and sometimes petty) writer, she thoroughly enjoys using her words to explore and expose themes of race, gender and religion (specifically Evangelical Christianity) via storytelling, poetry and music.

After releasing The Divide, a book of spoken word poetry in 2018, she began work on a trilogy of one act plays dealing with the erasure of Black women in evangelical megachurch culture, the first of which, Balances, presented as part of the Emerging Artists New Works Theatre Festival in October 2018. Other recent projects include: Jagged Little Lemonade, a cover album project featuring mashups of Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill and Beyoncé's LemonadeScandusical, an original musical parody of the TV show Scandal (playing soon at The PIT, stay tuned!!) and a super secret podcast project that she's already said too much about.

And she's also making it a point to do more live performance as a singer-songwriter (you can view her EPK here), so your best bet is to sign up for her mailing list to be sure to be there for whatever happens next!

Let me let you know.

Give me your email address and I'll keep you in the loop!
